We first opened our business in Jacksonville during 1990, where we handled the cleaning and repair of commercial rug dealers. In 1996 we expanded our services to the general public, as well as opening new businesses throughout North Florida.

Hand knot rugs are normally woven by wool pile on a wool or cotton foundation.

This type of rug will be used for a very long time and can be passed down in a family from generation to generation. They can last for more than 200 years, but more than 70% don't make it to this age due to being destroyed by damage.

Damage on hand knot rugs is normally caused by humans, animals, and age.

As a rug ages, its value will often increase because labor and material will be expensive and each hand knot rug is a masterpiece and unique. If you have an orienal hand knot rug, treating it carefully by keeping it clean and healthy, and tending to any repairs quickly are wise to protect part of your investment and family heirloom.

Design name: (Saltanabad Zigler) From the North west of Iran.
Size: 14' x 24'
This damage was caused humans, by pulling heavy furniture on this old rug which is more than one hundred years old.
Repair Process
1. Clean up round of the damage area and take out whole loose knots.
2. Make new foundation, match with old foundation
3. Reweave whole damaged area with the same knot style the rug has, and match the wool color.

This rug was hand woven in Persia between 1900-1925.
Design name: (Kashan) From the North west of Iran.
Size: 9' x 12'
This damage includes the edge, fringe, and foundation, part of rug has been lost. Normally the first part will be damage to the fringe, which gets shorter and shorter until gone. if the fringe is not repaired the damage spreads to the rug itself. Line by line will be lost as the pile starts coming out.
When a rug start to lose any lines, its value will start to go down.
To repair this type of damage normally we advise three options:
First: Rebuild fringe, can be expensive but rug value will benefit.
Second: Open had the rug and after even over cast and rug will have about one each natural fringe.
Third: Open had the rug and after even add new fringe if you love long fringe.

Size: 10' x 14'
The damage to this rug was caused by age, and long-term use on a floor where it saw a lot of traffic. Weekly house cleaning caused the rug pile to shorten and wear down to the knot, exposing the foundation. When taking this type of rug to a specialist for repair, you must ask three questions:
1. What is the current market value of this rug?
2. How much will it cost for a perfect repair?
3. What will the market value of this rug be after the repair?
When you have had these questions answered, you can make an informed decision as this type of repair can be very expensive.

Design name: (Ghashghai)
Size: 14' x 24'
This damage was caused by humans, pulling heavy furniture across the rug wears through the pile to the foundation, and creates a hole completely through the rug. If this type of rug is carefully looked after, it could last for another hundred years.
Repair Process
1. Clean up around hole and pull out loose pile.
2. Rebuild foundation in the same design and to the original size.
3. Match the wool type, color, and weave the same as original.
4. Trim and sheer the new pile to blend in the repair.

This damage was caued by age. After being used on the floor for a long time, heavy traffic and regular house cleaning caused the rug pile to wear down to the knot, until the foundation was showing. 1. Clean up damaged area and remove loose pile.
2. Fix rug in loom and build new foundation.
3. Weave the damaged area of the rug using the same original design, knot, and color wool.
4. Over cast and cut the fringe, then remove rug from loom.

The damage is caused by humans. The rug was on the floor under a chair, and over time the chair was repeatedly dragged across the rug, damaging it in one area. Once repaired, if this rug is moved to a different area it could easily last another fifty years.
